Congrats to Dallas Seavey, 23, who was the first musher to pull into Cripple during this year's Iditarod Sled Dog Race.

Seavey arrived around 1:30 a.m. March 11 with 13 dogs and picked up $3,000 in gold coins at the Cripple Checkpoint.

Cripple is the designated halfway point of the over 1,150 mile race from Anchorage (OK, Wasilla) to Nome.

The race alternates routes every year from the north trail through Cripple, Ruby and Galena to the south trail through Iditarod, Shageluk and Anvik.

This is Seavey's fourth Iditarod. Last year he placed sixth. His father, the 2004 Iditarod champion Mitch Seavey, nudged past him for fourth place in 2009.

Dallas Seavey was the youngest rookie in history to run the race in 2005, pushing in at 51rst place. Two years later, he moved up to a 41rst, and in 2009, jumped over 30 places to finish with the top ten pack.

So far, Dallas Seavey has netted over $41,000 in Iditarod winnings.
