A Marine from Moose Pass has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense on Tuesday identified the soldier as 28-year-old Gunnery Sgt. Christopher L. Eastman.

Official says Eastman died Sunday in Helmand province, Afghanistan. The cause of death wasn't listed, but a Marine Corps spokesman said Eastman died in a bomb explosion.

Eastman was assigned to the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

His remains were returned Tuesday to Dover Air Force Base, Del.
